Arthur Coffey who was attending Princeton and was a member of the Oritani Field Club and a very good Tennis player, joined the service only 10 days after the United States declared war on Germany, April 6th, 1917. People who belonged to the Oritani Field Club during 1917 were most often very wealthy. He was awaiting orders to report on J.P. Morgan's Yacht which is the J.P. Morgan financial institution we know today. One would think you had to know or be known by the Morgan family in some way to get such an assignment.

More Hackensack Boys Join Service

Arthur Coffey and Edward H. Coffey, Jr., sons of Mr. and Mrs. E.H. Coffey, of Union street, students at Princeton, have both entered the service. Edward H. Coffey, Jr., has enlisted in the First Defense Naval Reserve and is stationed at Newport. Arthur Coffey, who is well known as a tennis player, is awaiting orders to report on J.P. Morgan's yacht "Corsair" which will be used as a despatch boat.
